Best Design Trends of 2008

A huge shift in design has being happening. Designers are attempting to recover some of the old methods and tools that haven’t been used since the computer boom. No more glossy and shiny gradients; instead of that, handwritten notes, doodles, watercolors and collages have been explored. As it’s hard to create handmade designs, they are being recreated digitally with handwritten fonts, watercolor and doodle brushes, and digital collages. We hope that this trend inspired by the old methods and styles (like vintage and retro) stays a little longer, getting more and more creative. Let’s remember some aspects of this big trend from 2008.

  1. Long live retro! 2008 to me was a big breakout year for trends finally being able to be utilized properly in a web design. CSS is finally mature enough where we’ve seen some really outstanding work that coincide with traditional design. A huge step for web development indeed.

  2. This is a great collection of ‘design style’ i feel that this selection implies that the search for style is a natural cycle like the constant need for food.
